In 1955, she was featured on The Colgate Comedy Hour with Gordon MacRae. Soon afterwards she achieved success with songs such as “Malagueña”, “The Breeze and I” (a global million-seller), and “Dreh dich nicht um” with the Werner Müller orchestra. In 1953, she made her first recordings with Kurt Edelhagen. While she is best-known as an international performer, Valente also spent part of her career in the United States, where she performed alongside Bing Crosby, Dean Martin, Perry Como, and Ella Fitzgerald, among others. Valente is a polyglot she speaks six languages, and sings in eleven. Caterina Valente (born 14 January 1931 in Paris, France) is an Italian multilingual singer, guitarist, dancer, and actress.
